3 Easy, Natural Ways to Lighten Your Underarms

With "sleeveless" season in full swing, we all want our underarms to look great, especially if we live in sleeveless shirts and dresses in the summer.  But let's face it, many of us might suffer from dark underarms, leaving us with our arms glued to our sides like a little T-Rex. Luckily, there are many natural ways we can easily lighten our underarms.

Here are my favorite tips for getting pretty underarms:

Tip#1 Lemon Juice: Lemon Juice is a natural bleacher and also has powerful antibacterial agents. To help lighten your underarms, run a lemon wedge on the skin and let the juice sit for about 15-20 minutes and then wash the area with lukewarm water.  You can also add a bit of turmeric powder (my favorite spice). Try to do this 4 times a week.

Tip#2 Exfoliate: Dead skin cells can lead to dark underarms, which is why it's very important to exfoliate. You can make your own exfoliant using baking soda and water and exfoliate in the shower. Or you can also mix equal parts honey, lemon juice and sugar. Do this a few times a week.

Tip#3 Change Your Deodorant: Many deodorants and antiperspirants are filled with so many toxic chemicals that are not only bad for your health, but alcohol-based deodorants can also be the cause of dark underarms. Try switching up your deodorant to an organic alternative (that's what I did this year) or at least one that is not alcohol-based (next week, I'll be sharing some of my favorite organic deodorants that actually work!)
