Part I: Ultimate Seekender- Myrtle Beach, SC

A few weeks back I shared with you that I partnered with Hampton by Hilton to become one of their “Ultimate Seekenders.” As part of my “Seekender” assignment I headed off to Myrtle Beach, South Carolina with my family. Have you ever been? As a Seekender, I’m always up for going on an adventure to trying new things with my family. Myrtle Beach’s local offerings mixed with its beach town vibe makes for the perfect weekend getaway.

In case you’re planning your own trip to this charming town, here are a few things we did:

Things to Do

Broadway at the Beach - Our hotel was located right on Broadway at the Beach, so we spent a lot of time here. It’s a boardwalk with tons of restaurants, attractions and shops. I feel like Andres was in toddler paradise, it had the 3 things that he’s been obsessed with lately: cars, dinosaurs and fishes. Our first stop was ….

Ripley’s Aquarium: This is a great place to visit if you have kids. They have tons of sea life, “touch tanks” and they even have a live mermaid show. Andres enjoyed seeing the shark tunnel and even got to touch a sting ray. Oh and of course, he was also so excited to see the clown fishes (Nemo).

Dinosaurs the Exhibit- This was another fun exhibit at the Broadway at the Beach boardwalk, especially since Andres is all into dinosaurs now. It had robot dinosaurs and a play area. At the end of the exhibit he also got to ride a robot dinosaur and make his own dinosaur movie using a green screen (it was so funny seeing the final video).

Ridemakerz- After we had dinner we checked out this store called Ridemakerz. It’s kind of like a Build-A-Bear only 100 times better where you build your own toy car. You get to customize everything from the body style, sound effects (for example sirens or race sounds) and free wheel or radio control. You also get to pick your own accessories from type of tires, rims, decals you name it. Andres of course decided to go with a Lighting McQueen version. After you pick all the accessories, then you build it yourself. I wish they had one of these in Miami!

Where to Stay

We stayed at the Hampton by Hilton right on the Broadway at the Beach boardwalk, which was super convenient. It was also a short 5-minute drive from the beach. The staff was super welcoming and friendly. One of the many perks was the On The House Hot Breakfast, which is their free hot breakfast served daily with all the works from fresh-baked waffles, hearty oatmeal with toppings, fresh fruit, omelets and more! It’s so practical, especially when you have a toddler that loves to wake up at 7am! We would simply go downstairs, grab breakfast and then go back to our room to finish getting ready for the day.

The room was also super spacious and after a long day at the beach nothing beat coming back to a clean and fresh bed for an afternoon nap.

The hotel also had an indoor and outdoor pool and free Wi-Fi (which is always a plus). I highly recommend it if you’re ever planning on coming to Myrtle Beach.
