Part II: Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa Review

Last month, I headed to Tulum to celebrate my birthday. By now you’ve probably heard all the buzz about Tulum—from popping up on your friend’s Instagram with their gorgeous beach selfies or seeing it in your favorite lifestyle blog. Throughout the years it has become a favorite destination for everyone from families, yoga enthusiasts to the ultimate girls getaway retreat.

I shared with you my Tulum travel guide a few weeks back (see my Tulum guide here) and today for Part Two, I wanted to share a review of where I stayed.

Here are a few highlights from my experience at Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa....

Arriving
After arriving at the Cancun airport, we took a car service to the resort. It’s about a 90 minute to Dreams Tulum. When we arrived to the resort we were immediately greeted with so much hospitality, from offering us something to drink to even some wet towels to freshen up from our trip.

The Suite
We stayed in the Premium Junior Suite, which was probably closer to the size of a small apartment than a hotel room. There’s a total of 432 guest-rooms and suites at Dreams Tulum, but its thoughtful design makes it feel super private.

Beside the bed there was also a small living room type area with it’s own couch, coffee table and small desk (which Andres immediately claimed as his own room lol). You can even turn the couch into a crib, which was great! The suite also featured a huge bathtub, stand-up shower, his and hers sinks and a spacious furnished balcony with views of their lush gardens.

I can’t say enough great things about the staff. They were always so attentive making sure we had everything we needed in the room. And not to mention for my birthday they surprised me by turning our room into its own little birthday party filled with balloons, a cake made out of towels and even a birthday card signed by the staff.

Activities
I was blown away by all the amazing activities the resort offers. You can do as much or as little as you’d like, whatever type of vacation you prefer—-they have you covered. The activities vary from day to day, but it included everything from yoga classes, pool foam party, snorkeling to tennis lessons. They even had an Explorer’s Club, a fully supervised children’s program with tons of fun activities for kids.

The best part however was the Dreams Entertainment team. They had nightly shows right after dinner that ranged from typical dance shows and even Cirque du Soleil type water shows.

The Food
Another thing I loved about Dreams Tulum Resort & Spa is that they are all-inclusive (even drinks are included). You could choose from nine different restaurants that included Mexican, French, Japanese and Italian restaurants as well as a grill and a buffet. They also have a buffet-style breakfast, although some days when we were too lazy to go to breakfast we just ordered breakfast to our room.

By the way did I mention they also have 24-hour room service?! I’m guilty of ordering a slice of pizza at 1am with my mom haha.

The Facility
The facility itself is gorgeous, from the pools to the beach (which is right in front of the resort). Everything was always super clean and well-maintained from the walkaways, gardens, and ponds.

Location
The resort is located approximately 15 minutes away from most major attractions such as The Tulum National Park and various Cenotes. Being that I was traveling with a toddler it was great that the resort offered those little luxuries that we are use to back home (as oppose to going without electricity in other Tulum hotels or fighting off mosquitoes).

Andres with his girlfriend (also named Carmen haha)

The Verdict
Overall we had a really great experience and I can’t recommend this place enough. Andres keeps asking me when we are going back to Dreams Tulum and he has convinced himself that he works there hahaha (so he must go back!)
