Arsht Insider: {Death & Harry Houdini}

I recently partnered with the Adrienne Arsht Center as an Arsht Insider, where I get to check out the latest performances taking place. As some of you may know, I’m a huge fan of the arts. I enjoy everything from the opera to the theater. So far it looks like my four year-old is also following in my footsteps.

Last weekend I had the chance to check out one of their latest performances “Death & Harry Houdini.” It took place at the Arsht Center’s Carnival Studio Theater, which I loved since it had a smaller and more intimate setting.

The show was super entertaining. It featured award-winning magician, Dennis Watkins, who performed Houdini’s original magic including walking on glass, getting out of a straight jacket while hanging upside down and of course the dangerous escape-the dreaded Water Torture Cell.

The show overall had a dark theme to it, but in a way that it was still enjoyable for kids (I actually brought along Andy and my little niece). The play was thrilling and in addition to the magic acts performed, it also weaved together pieces of Houdini’s life, from getting married to losing his father, in a theatrical way.

So for my Miami folks, if you’re looking for something fun to do this weekend, I highly recommend you check it out. The show runs from now until May 21, 2017 and you can purchase tickets here.
