Getting Out of the Recipe Rut with Sun Basket (and it's organic!)

I’m all about making home cooked meals, at least I try to as much as I can. One thing I had been struggling with was coming up with ideas on what to cook. I’m really bad at the whole meal planning thing. I’m sure other moms out there can relate, that after a while you just get tired of cooking the same thing over and over again.

That’s why I’m a big fan of meal delivery services. My son and I only eat organic food, that’s why I was so excited when I heard about Sun Basket. They are a healthy meal kit service that delivers USDA Certified Organic and non-GMO ingredients, plus the recipes are super easy to make. The seafood and meats they use are also sustainably sourced and hormone-free.

So I gave them a try and immediately feel in love.

They offer two different meal plans:

The Classic Plan features healthy spins on restaurant-worthy dishes, with a mix of global flavors and classics. You can choose 3 recipes per week for 2 or 4 people. They also have Paleo, Gluten-Free, Vegetarian and Breakfast options.

The Family Plan also has a delicious menu with lots of veggies cleverly tucked into kid-friendly recipes the whole family with enjoy. You can choose 2 or 4 recipes each week for 4 people (2 adults and 2 kids).

One of the things that I love about the family plan, is that the recipes are co-created by Chef Tyler Florence of the Food Network. I actually bought one of his cookbooks when Andy was a baby called “Start Fresh” which has recipes for infants, babies and toddlers. He has a great way of creating recipes that are healthy and in a way that kids are getting in their veggies (so important!) So how awesome is it to know that he’s partnering with Sun Basket to create the recipes.

For my first delivery I ordered the fish tacos with avocado and baja cucumber salad (uh-mazing) and the Chili mac ’n’ cheese (vegetarian dish). The recipes come labeled and in their own bag, which makes it very easy to find all your ingredients.

It’s also so convenient having fresh, organic ingredients delivered right to my doorstep. They are also already pre-portioned into the recipe amounts (so you’re not wasting food either).

The Mac n’ Cheese was a huge hit with Andy. I’m looking forward to cooking up some more recipes.
