Guest Blog Post: How to get the Better Bun

We're so excited for today's guest blog post! It comes from our good friend and life & style blogger Amanda from Life is So Demanda. She shares with us how to create a sexy, messy bun, better than the sock bun. Be sure to check out her blog by clicking here.

Hello readers! It's Amanda from Life is So Demanda. By now, everyone and their mother has heard of the infamous “Sock Bun”  - – where you take a sock with the toes cut out, roll it up and place it at the tip of the ponytail hair on your head and then roll down creating a perfectly symmetrical bun, which is amazing, and looks amazing when done right…but isn’t always the easiest to do when you have long layered hair and are in a rush (which is most days for me!) So…I’m here to introduce you to your new FAVORITE bun – For lack of a better name, I’m calling this The Better Bun.

What you'll need:
Ponytail holder
Teasing comb
Bobby pins
Hairspray

Here's a video tutorial:

  1. very cute better bun. will be wearing that saturday night. lot easier then the sock bun. at least for me
little trick i found that works for me. my bobby pins sometimes start sliding out, sometimes even as i am putting them in. take your bunch of pins and put them on a paper towel, spray them with your hair spray, before they completely dry put them in your hair. ta da.

by the way. great first time camera tutorial.

  3. At the risk of sounding like an annoying hipster, I knew about the sock bun before the sock bun was cool. Lol. Back in middle school I would use it all the time. But I didn't have layers then. To my surprise when I tried it again recently it was not workin'. This seems like a great alternative!

  4. Cool idea! I have layers as well so something is always sticking out. Great first video. I will try it in the morning.
