VF Travel Series: New York's Library Hotel + Carnegie Deli

Last week, we kicked off our NY travel series (you can check out the first post here). Here's another one of my favorite hotels to stay when I'm in New York. It's called the Library Hotel. As you probably know by now I'm a sucker for themes--and this hotel is all about themes! Each room is uniquely adorned with a collection of books and art exploring a certain topic. The one we stayed in had an architecture theme. They had this one Art Deco book that reminded me of back home (Miami). It's also centrally located in Midtown Manhattan, so it's walking distance to many of New York's top attractions, such as Times Square, the Empire State Building and Rockefeller center (and the Subway lines).

The night we stayed there, we actually walked to Times Square to grab dinner with friends at a restaurant called Buddha Bar (which by the way, make sure you make reservations).  The rooms were super clean and spacious. They also had free wi-fi, complimentary continental breakfast and had  a complimentary wine and cheese reception every evening from 5-8pm. In case you missed the reception their Reading Room had 24 hours fresh coffee, cappuccino, fresh fruit and of course books!

I love this pillow they had in the room that read "Book Lovers Never Go to Sleep Alone"--too cute.

Taking silly pictures in the elevator with my messy hair.

They have a wall with all the rooms' themes from fashion to philosophy. I definitely recommend this hotel if you're looking to visit NYC!

When it comes to eating, there's no shortage of amazing restaurants in NYC. The hubby and I love, love, love, Carnegie Deli. There's not that many great delis in Miami (at least none that I know of) so we definitely take advantage and come here every time we are in the city. We literally drop off our luggage at the hotel and come straight here to grab lunch.

We always order the same thing-- pastrami sandwiches. They're so huge you could even share one. Oh and the pickles are delicious too. If you're in the mood for some yummy sandwiches, this is your place.

See what I mean? It's definitely a mouthful!

What are some of your favorite places to visit in New York? I'm making another short trip later this month and would love to know. Our trip to try to get some cronuts (a croissant/donut hybrid) at Ansel Bakery was unsuccessful (we got there at 10 am and they were sold-out---waaaa) so I'm wondering if there are any other places in the city that has cronuts.

  1. I'm obsessed with The Tea Set in SoHo for lunch and tea infused mimosas. The owner Jaques is French and is style is evident in the space, its simple and chic. Haven't been there in forever though
