Tips for Planning a Baby-Free Summer Getaway!

Before my husband and I started talking about having children, we always said we wanted to take one trip a year, just the two of us, even if it was just around the corner for a night. In my opinion, it's so important to take time out as a couple. Last year, we took our first trip alone to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. And although we missed our little guy like crazy, we had such an amazing time enjoying each other's company.

Here are a few tips that helped us prepare for a baby-free getaway:

Leave a “Meal Plan”: We made a meal plan for our son, which listed all of his meals (breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner) in detail. The day before we also prepared several meals in advance (including those that we knew froze well). This made it a lot easier for my in-laws, who were taking care of Andres.

Make a List: Packing with a baby can feel like you’re moving! We made a list of all the things we had to pack from toys, bathtub…etc. This helped us stay organized and make sure we didn’t forget anything. Since he was staying at my in-laws house we also packed his pack ‘n play (for him to sleep in). When we’ve traveled with him before we always bring it along so he’s use to sleeping in it.

Decide Where You Want to Go: One of the most important things of course, is deciding where you want to go. Do you want to relax? Perhaps you want something more action-packed? We researched several places to visit and finally decided on Grand Solmar in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. There were several things to do throughout the day, from wine tastings to couples massages on-site. Although we love adventure, we decided this time around to make this trip mostly about relaxing. It was the first in several months we actually slept in!

Overall, we had an amazing time, but the best part of the trip was coming back home to our little one and seeing his big smile when he saw us.
