Motherhood Mondays: Back-to-School Style

Andres starts pre-school (insert crying here) in just a few weeks so we’ve decided to get a head start on our back-to-school shopping. Since he’s outgrown his uniform from last year, we headed to Target to stock up on the basics. They have a great selection on khaki and navy shorts as well as collared shirts. We simply stick to his school colors (navy, red, and khaki) and then get them monogrammed with his school emblem. I love that they’re budget-friendly. We found both the shorts and collared shirts for under $10 bucks so we bought 5 pairs to last us throughout the week. The shirts and shorts are also very versatile because they can be worn for school as well as weekend wear (for example a blue collared shirt paired with denim shorts would look super cute).

While I was at it, I also bought Andres this adorable Lightning McQueen lunchbox and some really cute socks at Target. Socks are a great way to add some personality and a fun touch to his uniform. Plus, he gets a kick out of them (right now he’s into anything that’s dinosaur or cars related). We also can’t forget about mom! I’ve started to do some back-to-school shopping for myself too. I found some adorable home decor from the Nate Berkus collection to help keep my home office organized, like this gold stapler and desktop tray. I also stocked up on some clothes that would be perfect for school-drop offs.

I’m all about wearing pieces that are super comfortable, but that don’t look like I just rolled out of bed haha. For the most part, my school-drop of style consists of jeans. I basically live in them throughout the entire school-year. The best part of jeans is they can easily be dressed up, say with a blazer and wedges or dressed down with a simple basic tee and sandals. I found so many great styles at Target that are not only super budget-friendly (I found these for under $30 bucks) but they have reinvented all their jeans to be even more stretchy and comfortable.

They have a bunch of different styles to pick from, from skinny, boyfriend, straight and jeggings. My personal favorites are the skinny and boyfriend cuts.

Do you have a school drop-off style? You can check it out online and in-stores!
