Thank you

After taking off a few months from blogging after the passing of my husband, I wanted to take a quick moment to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much for your comments, emails, texts, flowers, messages on Instagram and to those who have shared with me their own personal experience with grief. Even though I didn’t get to respond to every single one, please know that I did read all of them, and they mean so much to me, more than you will ever know.

The lost of a husband is by far one the hardest thing any human being should ever have to go through. They are the person you envision the rest of your life with, growing old together—they are your partner and other half. Fernando was that and so much more to me. Unless you have lost a spouse yourself, it’s so hard to understand the pain. It’s not a pain that ever “goes away” or that “time heals,” but somehow you have to learn to live with it. Right now, that’s where I am—learning to cope, learning to live my new normal.

Throughout all of this, God has been my strength. Even during my darkest hours, I feel his presence. Even though my heart is broken into a million pieces, there is still so much I am grateful for. I’m so grateful for my beautiful, smart and healthy son, my family and my husband’s family, and for my own health.

I wanted to let you know I’ll be back to blogging and I also wanted to thank my friends who helped contribute to the blog while I took a “break.”

So thank you, thank you so much.

xx,
Carmen
