Real Talk: New Year, New Beginnings!

Happy New Year guys! It’s so nice to be back home in Miami after taking a long break over the holidays and disconnecting. I spent the holidays in Medellin, Colombia with family and loved ones (I can’t wait to share with you some photos of my trip).

Over the break I also shared some very exciting and personal news over on my Instagram. I introduced you guys to Julio, the amazing man God has placed in my life. As I start this new year, I’m ready for new beginnings. I’m ready to start this new chapter in my life. As some of you might already know, I lost my dear husband to terminal stomach cancer. These past two years have been a whirlwind, but one thing has remained true, God has been faithful. For the first time in a long time, I’m ready to move forward with more faith and hope for a future.

So I’m sure some of you might be curious, so I thought I’d share how we met. We actually met more than 14 years ago in Medellin, Colombia. You see, Julio is my cousin’s best friend. I was about 18 years old and visiting my family. We went out with a group of friends and that was that. I technically only saw him once. We never spoke again after that. Life continued, I met my late husband, Fernando, when I was 21 and got married when I was 22. I didn’t reconnect with Julio until recently through social media (of course lol). He was now living in Mexico for work and as life would have it, I had to travel to Mexico for a project. We reconnected there, hung out and immediately felt the bond between us.

As time went on, we both felt we were the answer to each others prayers. Everything just seemed to come so easily. He has come into our lives as such a blessing. He also understands and honors my past. Most importantly he honors the man that Fernando was and how special he will always be in our lives. Seeing Julio with Andy also melts my heart. He genuinely has such a big heart and I feel so grateful to be part of it.

I hope to share with you more in the coming months, but just wanted to take this moment to thank you for keeping our family lifted in prayer throughout Fernando’s diagnosis and passing. They were truly felt during such a difficult time in my life. I know Fernando would be so happy as well. He always told me he wanted me find love again (he was so selfless). Thank you as well for all the support and love you shared on Instagram with your comments.

I wish you all a very Happy New Year, filled with love, health and happiness. And remember, we can't always control the storms in our lives. In fact, the storms are inevitable, but God will always see you through. Trust in him.

P.S. As we start the new year I'd love to know what you'd like to see more of on the blog. Would you like to see more personal stuff like this? More outfits, travel pics, steal her looks, motherhood stories? Feel free to leave me a comment below. And again, thanks for all of your support. I love you guys!
