Happy Friday!

Happy Friday my darlings! It's been raining all week in Miami, which makes me happy because I get to wear my rain boots. I feel like a little kid again jumping in the puddles. On the downside, I wish I could just crawl under my covers and watch movies all day--sigh.

Do you have any fun plans this weekend? Yesterday, I took baby Andres Sebastian to his first mommy and me class. We had sooo much fun. We sang songs and got to play with different textures, including one where he got to play with whip cream on his feet. He loved it and it was so sweet to see his eyes light up so big.

Hope you have a great weekend! What's making you happy this week?

Style Swap: Katie Holmes

Today's Style Swap was inspired by Katie Holmes. We love how she paired her white skinny jeans with a striped top and brown boots. I recreated her look with this top I scored at Madewell (on sale) for just $32. You can still get it online for the full price here. These white Rockstar skinny jeans have also been in constant rotation in my wardrobe, they're from Old Navy and they fit great. For those of you buying them online, they run a bit small so I would recommend getting one size up. I've been wearing this outfit a lot this summer, but had never thought about wearing them with boots. I love how it looks though, so will definitely be pulling out my old Fossil boots a lot more.

Summer Must-Have Shoe Styles

Summer is right around the corner and I've been working on expanding my shoe collection. But lately I feel like I barely have time to hit the mall (especially with having a four-month old baby!) And that's where ShoeDazzle comes in. I'm sure most of you have probably already heard of them, but for those that haven't...you basically take a fun quiz so ShoeDazzle can get to know your style. And based on the results of the quiz, ShoeDazzle gives you your first showroom of shoes they think you'll love. I just took the quiz and here are some of the shoes they picked out for me. They were right on point. I'm in love with all the styles, especially the wedges.  Those are my go-to shoes for the summer. The prices are great too, mostly all under $40 bucks.

At the beginning of each month you get new selections that fit your individual style, and as new styles get added to the site throughout the month, they continue to tailor your recommendations--pretty cool huh? Oh and it's updated monthly and curated by Rachel Zoe, LOVE her. You can take the quiz by clicking here. (it's fun to take just to see what they think your style is hehe).

What do you think of some of the shoes they picked for me? Do you see any you like?

VF's Closet: Tweed

Dress: Tahari via Marshalls; Shoes: BCBG via Marshalls; Bracelets: LOFT; Earrings: Marc by Marc Jacobs Studs

I love tweed, whether it's in a dress or a skirt, there's just something so feminine and classic about this fabric. I recently bought this tweed dress at Marshalls from Tahari for just under $40. I wore it for a TV segment I had this morning on Univision's Despierta America.  Tahari really makes some great classic dresses, or what I like to call my perfect "TV" dresses (I also bought this pink Tahari dress last week for another TV segment). But I can totally see a dress like this working for any office job as well. It's the perfect length and color without seeming too "mature." Perhaps wearing it to an office meeting or business dinner by simply adding a blazer or cardigan.

Or you can even wear it to a Sunday brunch by simply swapping the nude pumps for a pair of flat sandals. I finished off the look with these uh-mazing bracelets from LOFT and stud earrings.

Style Swap: Jennifer Aniston

Hi guys...it's time for another Style Swap. I absolutely love Jennifer Aniston's style. She manages to mix basics and classic pieces and make them look so chic. For example this plain grey t-shirt paired with white shorts and wedges. This look is perfect for the summer and is really easy to recreate on a budget. To recreate her look, I paired this grey t-shirt I bought at Marshalls paired with white shorts from jcpenney (worn here from 3 seasons ago).

I also LOVE fedoras and just bought this one at Target for $10. These brown wedges are also my go-to shoes for the summer. You've probably seen me wear them on the blog time and time again. Funny story...I've actually had two huge falls wearing them. On one occasion I twisted my ankle and dropped my iPhone and broke my screen! They are now referred to as my ankle breakers. I still love them though, even though they're starting to fall apart. I bought them 3 years ago for $39 (seen here).

Happy Friday + Mother's Day

Happy Friday! I've been anxiously awaiting the weekend since Monday. I'll be celebrating my first Mother's Day on Sunday with this little guy and the hubby. These past four months have definitely been the most emotional and rewarding months of my life. It's crazy to even think of my life before this little guy. The other day I was talking to my husband and we both said how we feel like we've had him forever.

For all the mom's out there and moms-to-be, have a very Happy Mother's Day!

Carmen

6 Pregnancy Staples for the Stylish Mom-to-Be

Today's guest blog post comes from a dear friend of mine, Carolina Buia. She's one of the sisters behind Chicksinaprons.com. It's a newly hatched blog offering free-range thinking on family living, eating and dwelling. All the while keeping life stylish, simple and sane.

by Carolina Buia

You’re suddenly pregnant with your first. And your beloved rack of Seven and True Religion jeans that probably sums up to half a week's paycheck still fit through the first trimester. But alas, as the weeks wear on, they get to feeling a bit too snug.

There's is no need to spend a fortune on maternity wear, but there's definitely a need to look stylish. After all, you’re eating for two—why not look twice as fabulous? We’re the Buia Chicks, bloggers at chicksinaprons.com, and between us we have six young kids. We've gone through many elasticized indigo in our day. And we've learned that you don’t need a whole new wardrobe to show off (or at times hide) your fabulous bump. So together we’ve compiled a half a dozen of our favorite pregnancy staples.

Fold-Over Yoga Pants at Anthropologie

1. The fold-over yoga pant from Anthropologie, $78--but on sale for $39. Six kids later and this one still hangs in our closet. You can pair it with flip flops, sneakers or wedges. It flatters pregnant and non-pregnant women alike and will take most women into their third trimester. The best part is, you’ll keep it in your closet long after your baby gives up the binkie.

Floral Printed Shirt, $59 at ZARA
2. Empire waisted or tunic tops and dresses from Zara and Forever 21. No need to spend a lot of cash for some on-trend staples that can take you from work to a Shirley Temple happy hour. They're so cute, you'll want to keep them around. And this spring, flowers are definitely in bloom.
Depending on your bump, consider buying one size up.

Maxi Dress, $39 at Macy's

3. The maxi dress. There are so many styles and fabrics to choose from. They can be paired with a cute leather jacket for a romantic night with hubby or a jean jacket for a casual girls’ brunch. It’s a glam go-to dress for when the water breaks and you’re rushing to the hospital. Our current favorite maxi is actually from the junior's department. It's price and color flatters all wallets and skin types.

Maternity Pants, $38 at Old Navy

4. Gap and Old Navy maternity jeans/ pants. These are a must. The Sevens will be there when you return to your fighting weight. Don't stretch your budget on these stretchy necessities.

Earth Mama Body Butter, $13 at Amazon

5. A totally vegan, natural body butter. You may want to get two bottles of this stuff! It's that good.

striped Flip Flops, $50 at Tory Burch

6. Because you will be living in flip flops this spring/summer, you may have to splurge a little. Your feet are carrying an extra wide load these days, so this is one place where we say 'splurge a little.' We're big fans of Tory's flops.

VF's Closet: Lady in Pink + Mother's Day Gift Ideas

Dress: Tahari via Marshalls: Shoes: BCBG Generation via Marshalls

Earlier this morning I did a segment on Univision's Despierta America sharing Mother's Day gift ideas from Marshalls. I wore this Tahari dress I scored for just $49 at Marshalls (originally $238). I finished off the look with some nude pumps for under $40 bucks.

If you haven't found the perfect gift yet, here are some great gift ideas that mom is sure to love and won't break the bank! Marshalls carries amazing on-trend, brand name designer pieces for up to 60% less than what you would pay at a department store.

For the mom that loves beauty, Marshalls has designer perfumes at great prices. I always say, if you don't know what to get mom, you can never go wrong with perfume. Spa-quality bath and body sets are also great gifts, especially for the mom on the go and doesn't have time to go to the salon or spa.

Be a hostess with style...any of these gifts would be great for the mom that loves to decorate. Stylish serving dishes are perfect for family get togethers and vintage frames and photo albums are great for bringing back great memories, simply add a picture of yourself with mom.

For the mom that loves accessories, Marshalls has accessories to make mom look fabulous, such as designer and brand name handbags and tech accessories so she can look fashionable while being in touch with her family.

This summer I'm also all about pairing them with printed shorts. Can you believe I live in Miami and only own three pairs of shorts?! That's quickly going to change as I've been adding shorts to my wardrobe like crazy (such as these). Pair them with some brown flats like these from Madewell and some friendship bracelets and you have the perfect summer outfit.
